These Terms & Conditions explain the rules for using bio, applying for a bio profile, reviewing draft profiles, managing published profiles and using our website.
bio is a trading name of Mednesia Ltd.
These Terms & Conditions are separate from our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and protect personal information.
By using bio, applying for a profile, signing in to an account, reviewing a draft profile or approving a profile for publication, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. What bio does
bio helps experts create trusted, AI-assisted professional profiles that showcase expertise, publications, speaking engagements, media appearances, roles and achievements.
The service may include:
- profile applications
- private draft profile creation
- AI-assisted profile generation
- human review
- profile owner review and approval
- public profile hosting
- profile update workflows
- account access for profile owners
- professional profile links such as
name.at.bio
bio is currently focused on professional profile creation and hosting. It is not currently an expert marketplace, booking platform, employment platform or agency.
3. Who may use bio
bio is intended for professional users, including experts, researchers, academics, clinicians, scientists, authors, speakers, consultants, founders, policy experts and relevant organisations.
You must not use bio if you are prohibited from doing so by applicable law.
If you use bio on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
4. Applications and invitations
You may apply for a bio profile or be invited to review a private draft profile.
Submitting an application or receiving an invitation does not guarantee that we will create, publish or continue hosting a profile.
We may accept, decline, pause, review or remove profile applications at our discretion.
5. Draft profiles
We may create private draft profiles using information you provide and/or publicly available professional information.
Draft profiles are provided for review and may contain errors, omissions or outdated information.
A draft profile is not intended to be published until it has been reviewed and approved.
You may request corrections, decline publication or ask us to delete a private draft profile.
6. AI-assisted content
bio may use AI-assisted tools to help generate, organise, summarise or improve profile content.
AI-assisted content may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. You are responsible for reviewing profile content before approving publication.
We may use human review to improve accuracy, clarity, structure and presentation, but we do not guarantee that any profile will be complete, error-free or suitable for any particular purpose.
7. Profile approval and publication
A profile may only be published after it has been reviewed and approved through the process we provide.
Once approved and published, a profile may be publicly accessible online and may be indexed by search engines or shared by others.
Published profiles may include information such as name, job title, organisation, location, biography, expertise, publications, speaking engagements, media appearances, achievements, professional links and contact preferences.
You are responsible for ensuring that any profile you approve is accurate, lawful, not misleading and suitable for publication.
8. Profile owner accounts
Profile owners may be given access to an account area to review profiles, submit updates, request changes and manage profile information.
You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, especially where email or magic-link sign-in is used.
You must not attempt to access another person's account or profile management area without permission.
We may suspend or restrict account access if we believe there is misuse, unauthorised access, security risk or breach of these Terms.
9. Profile updates and review
Profile owners may be able to save draft updates, submit updates for review or request changes.
Submitting an update does not mean it will automatically appear on the public profile.
We may review, edit, approve, reject or request clarification on submitted updates.
Where a profile is already published, the existing public profile may remain live while submitted updates are reviewed.
We may decline to publish updates that we consider inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, inappropriate, unsupported, infringing or inconsistent with the purpose of bio.
10. Your responsibilities
You must ensure that information you submit to bio is:
- accurate to the best of your knowledge
- not misleading
- lawful
- appropriate for a professional profile
- not defamatory
- not confidential unless you have the right to disclose it
- not infringing anyone else's rights
- not harmful, abusive, discriminatory or unlawful
You must not submit information that you do not have the right to use.
You must not impersonate another person or falsely claim qualifications, roles, affiliations, achievements, publications or credentials.
11. Our right to edit, refuse or remove content
We may edit, refuse, suspend, unpublish or remove any profile or content where we reasonably believe it is:
- inaccurate
- misleading
- unlawful
- inappropriate
- defamatory
- infringing
- harmful
- inconsistent with the purpose or quality standards of bio
- in breach of these Terms
- likely to create legal, security or reputational risk
We may also remove or unpublish profiles at the request of the profile owner or where required by law.
12. Intellectual property
You retain any rights you have in content you submit to bio.
By submitting content to bio, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, copy, edit, format, host, display, publish and distribute that content for the purpose of creating, reviewing, managing, hosting and promoting your bio profile and operating the bio service.
This licence ends when the relevant content is removed from bio, except where continued use is reasonably necessary for legal, audit, security or operational purposes.
The bio name, branding, website design, platform, software, templates, page layouts and other materials created by us remain owned by us or our licensors.
You must not copy, reproduce, scrape, reverse engineer or misuse any part of bio except as permitted by law or with our written permission.
13. Published profiles and public use
Published bio profiles are public pages.
You may share your own published profile link.
Other people may view, copy, link to, share or quote publicly available profile information. Search engines may index published profiles.
We are not responsible for how third parties use information that has been made publicly available on a published profile.
14. Contact requests
bio may allow profile visitors to contact or request contact with a profile owner.
We do not guarantee that any contact request will be received, accepted or responded to.
bio is not responsible for any relationship, engagement, advice, consultancy, speaking arrangement, media request or other interaction that may arise from a profile unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.
bio is not currently a marketplace, booking agent, employment agency or professional adviser.
15. Third-party links and information
bio profiles may include links to third-party websites, such as institutional pages, publishers, ORCID, LinkedIn, Google Scholar, media pages, event pages or personal websites.
We are not responsible for third-party websites, their content, availability, privacy practices, accuracy or security.
Links are provided for convenience and context only.
16. Acceptable use
You must not use bio to:
- break the law
- infringe intellectual property rights
- publish false, misleading or defamatory information
- harass, abuse, threaten or discriminate against others
- upload malicious code or interfere with the website
- scrape, crawl, copy or extract data at scale without permission
- attempt to access systems, accounts or data without authorisation
- send spam or unsolicited bulk messages
- misuse contact forms or profile links
- damage, disrupt or overload the service
We may restrict, suspend or terminate access if we believe these rules have been breached.
17. Service availability
We aim to provide a reliable service, but we do not guarantee that bio will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
We may update, suspend, withdraw, change or discontinue parts of the service at any time.
We may carry out maintenance, make improvements or fix issues without notice.
18. Accuracy and reliance
bio profiles are intended to help present professional information clearly. They are not a substitute for independent verification.
We do not guarantee that profile information is complete, accurate, current or suitable for any particular purpose.
Users, visitors, organisations, journalists, event organisers and others should carry out their own checks before relying on profile information.
19. Paid services
Some bio services may be free during the initial launch or invitation period.
We may introduce paid services, subscriptions, profile plans or organisation features in the future.
If we introduce paid services, additional payment terms, cancellation terms or service terms may apply. Those terms will be provided before purchase where required.
20. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information.
You should read the Privacy Policy alongside these Terms.
21. Suspension and termination
You may ask us to remove or unpublish your profile.
We may suspend, unpublish, restrict or terminate access to a profile or account if:
- you breach these Terms
- we believe content is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful or inappropriate
- we need to protect bio, users, profile owners or third parties
- we are required to do so by law
- the service is discontinued or changed
Where appropriate, we may give you an opportunity to respond or correct the issue.
22. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- loss of profits, revenue, business or opportunity
- loss of goodwill or reputation
- loss or corruption of data
- indirect or consequential loss
- reliance placed on profile information
- third-party websites or services
- unauthorised use of published public profile information
- interruptions, errors or unavailability of the service
bio is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
23. Indemnity
You agree to be responsible for losses, costs, claims or liabilities arising from content you submit, your use of bio, your breach of these Terms or your infringement of third-party rights.
24. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of bio after changes are published means you accept the updated Terms.
25. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you mandatory rights to bring proceedings elsewhere.
